Hi again to all who have helped me get this car together so far. The last thing I did today after you all told me where to find other vin tag was take it to the State Police today. They sanded my frame and put some liquid and a weird light and low and behold there was a number under where it had been sanded. It was the same number as my title from a different state. Wow that was a nail biter wondering if it had been stolen. SO THANK YOU ALL WHO HELPED ME.

Now my next problem is the rear end. I have a 10 bolt with upper and lower arms with coil springs and shocks. I took out the shocks and installed air shocks to lift the car in the rear so to get that old school look. when ever I drive over a bump or a small pot hole the rear axle drops quick sounds like it wants to just fall off. On the coil springs there is nothing mounting it it just sits over a round thing on the axle and on top is pushing against a metal pad. thats factory. So I have air shocks and coil springs all pushing the axle down so when I go over a small hole it drops hard.
What can I do to help keep the axle from dropping like it is?
Or what?? please help again oh great ones !!! Thanks

Honestly, I would take out the air shocks. The upper and lower shock mounts weren't designed to support the weight of the car. It would be better to get taller rear springs instead and run regular shocks. Then you wouldn't have the rapid drop you have now. Just my $.02.

Seems like every 12-bolt I find anymore has the shock mounts broken off from those damn air-shocks

Back in the old days, we used to put spacers in the springs to lift the rear. Then you don't alter anyting else and it just rides a little stiffer. For $5 worth of spacers, you could have a mean rake.

I had the same problems back in the day when I used air shocks. I think it's just the nature of the beast. You're taking the load off the springs, re-routing it through the shocks, and beating the crap out of the shock mounts.

You can use taller springs or spacers, and you can also get air bags that go inside the springs. All those alternatives should be available at any parts store.

THANKS everyone
Think I will go airbag in the middle of my springs
Thanks again. Wish I could get back my $80 for the air shocks
