: Dented Hood

I have some dents in the hood of my 65 Chevelle.
Several of them look indented(like someone sat on it) more than a heavy ding type of thing.
I have a body guy who worked on my car before, but that was on the sides and he would heat it with a torch and apply a damp cloth to move the metal.
Question is:
If I have him do this to the hood, will the metal flex afterwards when the heat from the engine hits it, and revert back to being all bumpy looking again.

Thanks,
jack

That's an old tried method that works, I think it shrinks the metal and won't revert back to the dent. Could one of those "dent doctors" push the dents out without using heat? If the paint isn't broke and they can get to the dent from the backside you may be better off.

Tom,
The guy who heats the metal came from Hong Kong and had been doing it for 25 years so I know he can move it. It's just when you change the makeup of the metal that had me nervous.

But, like you said, it's and old method that works. So, maybe I should go with him vs the dent guys??
I hate these kind of decisions....
Thanks for the input.
