Someone posted it on here once a long time ago. I couldn't find it. On bare metal, is it epoxy prime, sandable primer, and then paint?

There are different ways to do it. Epoxy, 2K build primer then paint would be a good sequence. On bare metal, you could also use etch primer, 2K then paint. This is assuming you don't need body work. If there is body work to be done, you can do this on bare metal or ontop of epoxy (but shouldn't be done on top of etch). Just make sure you get plenty of 2K on and block, block, block.

Randy you have a few choices:
Etch, primer surfacer then paint
Epoxy, surfacer then paint
Etch, epoxy, surfacer then paint
Personally I like the first one. There has been more then a few topics discussing which is better epoxy or etch.

Since am lazy and have better things to do then work on my chevelle, Ive been doing etch, epoxy then surfacer for several years. Personally I feel etch is better on bare metal but offers little protection from outside elements so I coat it with epoxy to seal it up til I get around to it again. Plus if I find a spot or two needs filler I can apply filler over the epoxy, something you CANT do to etch.

But none the less each paint manufactor has slightly different opinions so you should consult the tech sheets...Eric

I wanted to bring this back since there are some other people asking about it.
