OK, my frame is at the sandblaster being cleaned up. I want to finish it in a satin black color. Since this is a bare frame, do I want an epoxy or etching primer? And all said and done how much paint, preimer and reducer will I need to do the frame and A-arms???

self etching primer first, then an expoxy sealer/primer.If you do it all at once you dont have to prime and then wait to paint after sanding. You can use self etch- then seal then paint
Materials needed using a hvlp(high volume, low pressure gun)Preferably PPG materials for long lasting quality
1 quart self etch(makes 2 quarts with the 2nd part added)
2 quarts epoxy sealer/primer
Gallon of reducer(only way you can get it)
1 quart hardner for sealer(depending on mix ratio)
then comes the paint
the reducer can also be used for this(PPG DBC can be used in all applications)
2 quarts of paint and the hardner.
If you want the PPG numbers e-mail me at kevinmac_kjm@yahoo.com

John, if you plan on painting the frame I would first apply an etch primer on the bare metal. Etch is better because it bites into the metal providing better rust and adhesion properties. An expoy doesnt bite into just lays on top. A few good etches would be PPG dx1791, dupont variprime, S-W EGB 980(the EGB might be wrong but 980 is right).
Ive always had best results sealing the etch before topcoating, just get better color holdout. I use an expoy based sealer to go over the etch then apply topcoat. I use PPG dx1791 then DPLF90 mixed as sealer then DCC single stage urethane. You can only buy the etch and expoy in quart or gallons, get the quart for both. As for the DCC I would get a quart if not a quart and half
