I need some help from some of you long time chevelle bud's. I am restoring a 1968 Chevelle SS396 and I am trying to find out the correct black for the tail panel and the lower body below the molding. I have been through several books and it talks about how it was painted but it never gives any paint code or what percent of gloss that was used. Any help on this would be appreciated.

Thanks

The best way to go about this is to use a single stage satin enamel, and spray it with a decent gun. Any of the reputable paint company's will have it. I used Sherwin-Williams. I bought a gal because I was doing the fire wall and bottom of the body as well, with the same paint. You'll need a quart of paint, the flattener, the reducer, and the hardener. Talk to your paint supplier about how they can flatten the paint to about 60% gloss, then mix it all together as per their instructions, and your set.
