Look in the area of the throttle linkage on the drivers side of the carb. There'll be a 6, 7 or 8 digit number stamped vertically there. Write it down and visit these sites for decode info.

Try Quadrajet.com and see what they have for you. Also, there have been some posts here with pretty good info on that. Maybe a search here would help. And, of course, post the carb number here so that some knowledgeable member can help out. Ok, I just rembered that I had a printout from
www.carbs.net/quadnumber.htm (aka carbs unlimited)
Here is what is said:
first digits 702= 1960's, 703= 1960's with AIR, 704=1970-75, 1705=1976-79,1708=1980's
next digit is year of production 8=1968
next digit is 2 for qjet, with california emissions getting a "5"
next is car division, with Chev getting 0, 1, and 2. The others are 4=Buick, 5=Olds (rip), 6&7 are Pontiac. Who knows what Cad got Or GMC?
And the last digit is either even (for automatic trans) or Odd (for manual trans)
