What is a fair price to pay to have the following work done on my 69HT. I will supply the parts (Goodmark metal)

Replace both quarter panels (skins), both outer wheel wells, one trunk extention. Do the typical patching and fabrication that goes along with the job. No sealing, undercoating or painting.

Thanks

It all depends on the shop rate. We charge 40 bucks a hour and soon to change to 45. I have an old mitchell manual that told the shops back in the day what the prices were and the amount of time to install them. The quarter payes 13.3 hours each. The outer well pays 2.5 each. The trunk ext pays 1.0 each. So you find what they charge and mutliple that by all those shops hours that I gave you. That will give you a rough guess.

I just started working for a buddies shop helping out part time. I tend to do all the tear down, demolition, fabrication, assembly, and taping/cleaning while he does the dent removal, body filler work, and paint work (I'm only there a day and a half though).

I just started working on a '70 Chevelle SS big block car that came in. This car is getting both quarter panels (Goodmark), truck filler/extensions, and both inner & outer wheel houses. We have restoration customers supply the sheetmetal parts.

I just started cutting this past Monday, and it took me between 6 to 7 hours to cut off the passenger side quarter panel, trunk extension, and inner & outer wheel house, then clean up and grind the edges. There's a few small spots that need small weld in patches to the trunk panel 90 degree weld lip where the inner wheel house pinch welds on.

I figure till I make the patch pieces and we fit and weld the new pieces back on, we'll have another 6 to 8 hours in finishing the one side. I had never tacked a larger job like quarters, so I was surprised how long it took for me to do the demolition. It takes a long time because you have to preserve all the edges and lips in the car to weld the new panels back on. This car would have went quicker, but someone prior to us had installed full quarters that were still in decent shape, but they neglected to replace the inner & outer wheel houses which were in poor shape, plus they brazed the quarter on which were tough to find the spot welds compared to finding the factory spot welds...instead of looking for one set of spot welds, I was searching though two sets and determining which were holding the panel on...PITA.

Anyway, long stroy short, major panel replacement is tough and time consuming, so don't be surprised with a large bill, especially if the shop does everything the "right way", and doesn't cut corners. BTW, our shop charges $50/hour, time & material
