After driving in stop and go traffic for about 20 minutes, I parked my car and went into my office for about 15 minutes. The car would not start when I came out. No solenoid click, no nothing. The car has a sbc with headers. Is this the dreaded heat soak problem? The engine was pretty hot when I shut it down - about 220*.
If so, can I fix the problem by wrapping the starter with some of that header heat insulation wrap? I bought a Moroso metal heat shield and could not get it to fit. Maybe, I'll try again to get that thing to fit.
I really don't want to buy a mini-starter. The starter in the car now is a new re-manned AC/Delco unit. It would be a shame to waste that.
