You may need to replace the rear springs also if they have become weak. Jb

The shocks are probably not the problem. You have either passengers that need to shed some pounds or rear springs that are not up to the task. The solutions are: stronger springs, air shocks or air bags. Or, lastly, to alienate your passengers.

well you were prob right on the passenger thing but would stiffer springs solve this cause when i just had two bag of dog food in the trunk it does it also not nearly as bad but still does it

An auto zone or any parts store will have shocks for your car, on the springs, they can get weaker because of age or overload.

Also somebody might have did some cutting or heating of the springs at some time or other, of which would have taken some of the temper out of them.

Sounds like you could use some new rear springs. If the rears are that worn, chances are the fronts are too but you should start at least with replacing the rear springs and shocks. Both items are relatively easy to replace.

Wheels with the correct offset would be the best answer. :waving:

Looking at your car, It already sits pretty high in the back. I'd have to agree with Derek. I think the offset is wrong, not allowing the tires to "tuck" up into the wheel wells.

Depending on how much of a purist you are...we used to stuff the most tire possible under the qtrs. That usually involved rolling the rear fender lips up. Also a couple other "trick" that are a little archaic by todays standards are subbing the stock rear springs for Chevelle (or other GM A-body) station wagons or El Caminos. I would probably suggest a "load leveller" rear spring iwth a good shock today. I am still running a pair of El Camino springs and air shocks with about 25# of air (the minimum). No problem. Course I also don't have near as much tire any more either. Only vintage standard offset Cragar Aluminum Slots (14X7) with 225-70-14 on all 4 corners. Gave up the big n little thing a long time ago. Can't stand Stock look so I went with a performance look. The way I built my first Malibu.
