It pays to know the right people, i heard this is a good gun, it needs a little cleaning bit its still shoots flat (unfortunately i dont http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif).
It has a nice Sharpe cup on it, Anywayz what i wanted to know what is this gun good for?
is it better for base coat or clear coat. I already have a craftsman gun for primer, and a small/cheap HVLP that i use to paint with.
Thanks - Ryan

Hey Ryan, nice score. Is it a gravity or siphon gun,HVLP?If you take the air cap off or pull the fluid needle out and you should see a # like 1.3 or 1.5 somewhere.Tell us the # and we could tell you what its best suited for.

my cheaper Central Pnuematic Gravity HVLP (high volume, low pressure)needle size is a 1.4
The Binks is stamped 565 on the needle and 66 on the tip, im guessing its a 1.2mm because its a thinner needle than the one above. Its a siphon cup (bottom fed).
I was going to designate one for base coating, and one for clear coating, which one would be better for what?
Im guessing the Binks would be better for base, but im not sure.

Myself, I really like the Sata guns but have used Sharpe and a few Binks. One thing that I have always preferred is gravity feed guns. They just feel better to me. But when I did have a bottom feeder I used it for primer since I didn't like the finish as well with them on the topcoats. So since you already have a HVLP CP, I would use the Binks for base coat and save the gravity feed HVLP for clear. But again that is just my opinion, it all depends on how each gun sprays each layer, to me each gun fits a particular stage better. I like a Sata 2000 for base and a Sata Digital for clear. They can spray either well, I just feel in my hand each gun fits each a particular stage better.
