I bought new inner door handle mechanisms from Rick's Frist Gen because mine were worn and had a lot of slop in them. I read in another post that the ones he sells for Camaro's were the same as our Chevelle's. They fit and seem to work OK, but I notice they also have slop in them. Please look at the below picture and tell me if these things are supposed to have the shaft in an oval shaped hole on the back, or are these "new" ones worn already? Did I buy used parts? I just want to confirm that the hole should indeed be round before making a stink about it. Thanks!

I wouldn't think they'd be oval...I just got a pair from Rick's too (in their little sealed baggies and all). I'll take a look and see if mine show the same pattern, then let you know...OK?

I guess that's just how they're made. Mine look brand new, and exactly like yours.

Hmmmm...I bet they weren't like that when these cars left the factory...

Hi Greg,
Did you look at the back of your old mechanism? I just swapped out my old for the repro. Mine has the oval hole just like the replacement. And it's not all shiny like it was "worn" that way. In fact it looks like all the wear was on the handle side, where the post enters the mechanism. Since the replacement works so well, I'm just gonna go ahead and accept that the oval hole is how it's supposed to be...don't know why it is, but sometimes ya just gotta say what the hey! Ya know?
