I have always wondered what Chip Foose would do to my 64 on that show. I am anxious to see how it comes out. I may just decide to not sell mine and get re-motivated.

I was thinking the same exact thing about what Foose would do to a 64. Now we'll know if it's any customizing or just a freshening up. Looking forward to seeing it. 64elkynss

My brother tried to get them to do my 65 on their show but he never got a response......after about 8 months he finally told me what he tried to do.......I like Chip, but do not understand why after 8 months they (meaning the people that make the decisions) never had the decency to even reply to him with a simple yes or no....

I want to see the 64 but I have lost all respect for the show, other than Chip, and his worker bees.....lol

You know I think your right about not being in CA.....if they took someone from somewhere else it would take more than seven days for sure......still after 8 months they could have responded to my brother......I think in 8 months they can go through 100,000 entries and respond to each.......what they did was just plain rude to him

I don't think it was rude, You are applying for a chance to get a car overhauled. Every other sweepstakes that you have enterd, Have you ever got a response? Didn't think so. LOL - Just keep trying & maybe someday, Who knows. Luck of the draw.

Good point LK, except every other sweepstakes does not require the amount of time and effort to enter.

My brother spent three weeks sneaking pics of my car, digging up old information and writing his best heartfelt letter to them....most sweepstakes is enter our name address and why you want to win skippioes cereal contest......pretty brainless there

But you are probably right.....it is like any other sweepstake....imho those are just a scam anyway, thats why I do not enter, "you may already have won $1,000,000.00....lol

Hmmmm...What a nice 64..I didnot care to much for the stripes but the stance was killer...If I was a betting man those wheels on the front looked aweful close to rubbing...lol

Of course I am alittle partial to the 64's...

Well I saw the car, I was unimpressed. The stripes were out of place on a 64 to start with, the interior was just plain boring. Having owned a 64 SS and it being one of my favorite cars I ever owned, I would have put my 64 up against Chip's car and mine was way back in 1973 when I bought it. My engine was as nice or nicer, I liked my colors better. (Exterior was turquoise blue with smoked gold along the bottom with a semi gloss black hood)
I had chrome reverses with spinners and after the bottom was smoked in gold I painted over the chrome reverses with a semi-transparent gold matching paint so it looked like I had gold wheels.

Not one of Chip's better designs on this one. I did like that they took gas mileage into the equasion for once though.

Here is picture of my 64 unfortunately taken back in the early 70s with a polaroid camera lol http://depley.home.mindspring.com/72sprint/64chevelleSS.jpg

Wonder why they couldn't do an overhaulin show from here in Georgia at Year One, they have the parts and the facility to do a project like that not to mention Goodmark is right down the road.
Too bad my Chevelles almost done......

thelastmanstanding , if Chip wants a car to do and at Year one I would love to offer up my 72 GMC Sprint, he can pretty much do anything he wants to it! as long as it is driveable as a everyday car and keeps the A/C. Don't car what color as long as its not red, black or white.

I liked the car overall. Killer. Didn't expecially like the stripes but the owner seemed to. Hey, they are taking a car and spending mega $$$ for a Foose original for someone who is bidding time to "someday" fix the car. If they had stolen my '67, I would have loved whatever they did. I seem to have a positive outlook on life. I love it. Can't please everyone all the time so please yourself.

Its funny but someone posted on here a couple of weeks ago about stripes on a 65.

Maybe I'm biased, but there isn't much you can do to improve the look of a 64, its just so classic, it doesn't need a lot of ground effects.

I'm just sorry they did the car, because now they won't be interested in my wife's. She's had it since she started college in '73, and we've been fixing it up for our son to drive. It would make a nice story.

I would love to see them try to do our car in a week! I've had a door latch on backorder for a couple of months.

They don't have the episode on their site yet, I want to take a look at the pictures. Looks like they put an SS emblem in the grill.

Say, did ours just go up in value?

I missed this episode. By the time I even found this post the show aired already. Even the second time it runs a few hours later. Guess ill have to keep an eye out for it.

So lets tally up....

Chevelles on Overhaulin.

71 (or was that a 72?).....Was the pilot episode if I remember right.

66... for a kid coming back from Iraq.

68...For a young lady while her sisters S-10 gets the same. (Doublehaulin Episode.)

64...Which I missed.

67.... El Camino....Only was able to catch parts of that one. They had to cut a quarter off another car is about all I remember.

If I owned that relatively stock, decent '64 SS I'd be pi$$ed after it was Foosed up.
And those stripes are ugly.

Hey Ed, that's a sweet looking ride!

IMHO, I think deck stripes look out of place until the body style change in '68.
From '68-72 I think stripes are fine. On the early cars I prefer one color paint schemes.

I actually like the stripes. I didn't like the car's color, though. But it is a chick's car...

I also don't like white interiors. Nothing worse than a grungy white interior after a few years of use.

I though it was funny how they wanted to build a "sleeper" but they paint it a color that stands out like a sore thumb, put big ol' wagon wheel rims on it (like always) and use a "tiny" 350?? I don't know whos definition of "sleeper" they were going by, but it ain't a lot of peoples', including me. If anything, that 350 isn't going to live up to the external impression that car is giving.

Cute girl by the way... but why do some women bugger themselves up with tattoo's and weird piercings? Are they TRYING to make themselves ugly?

Anyway... all in all, lucky girl, and I wouldn't kick that car out of my garage for dripping a little oil....

didnt care for the stripes and didnt care for the speaker in the trunk.....that being said I would give my left one to have that car.

Let's see now........100,000 entries - 100,000 X $.39 (postage)=$39,000.....not including paper, envelope, cost of manpower to produce the response, etc. Might not be realistic to expect a negative response. They obviously operate on the "if you get notified, you've been chosen, if you don't you haven't."

you guys need to think about this more. most of the cars, are brought in, because the owner can't afford to finish them (like me), now, if they took my car, and put 32" wheels and painted it pink, i wouldn't give a crap, cause i now have a full new suspension, sound system, brake system, and engine, and some times they throw in a new rear end and tranny, so i think after the guy throws 40 large at my car, i could easily swap out the wheels and paint.

there have been a few high end cars brought in, but most have been tributes to the owner, who in thier daily lives, have given all they can to others, at the cost of neglecting thier cars. yeah, if i had an ls6 and found they swapped a 350 into it, i might be a liitle miffed, but most the time, the car is far beyond the means of the owner, so you either can enjoy the ride you get, or sell it for big $ and buy what you want, but i can never blame chip for anything, he gives, and gives, he's been a great guy every time i've met him, and he just seems to care about others.

no matter what he did to my car, it would be farther than i would be able to take it. did anybody see the 55 episode, or the d100 episode, how much do you think that body work would cost you? those rides would still be rotting in somebody's back yard.

for those that don't like chip's work, make sure your spouse knows that you never want your ride on overhaulin. for those that are lucky enough, you can always sell what you don't like off the car and have enough $ to replace it.

now personally i didn't like the stripes, but i would still have stood there and balled like a baby, if that was my ride, just to have so many people care enough, to do something that special for me....i just wouldn't know how to handle it. i probably wouldn't get to drive the car, the heart attack would kill me befroe i got the chance to drive it.....

last year i recieved an amazing christmas gift, and to this day, i don't think the presentor's realize how much it meant, and how everyday, i look at it, and can't believe how thoughtful it was, for them to do what they did.

stripes or not, how would you feel that somebody in your life and countless people who don't even know you, have done this, just for you? i think every show, is pretty amazing......

I understand that having a persons car done is a real honor. At least as long as you live in California, which is now where all the cars are coming from. I guess they are beautifying California one car at a time.

As for the stripes, Chip put the same stripes on the 409 65 Impala. I just though he could have done something a bit more original as it seems everyone has rally stripes on their chevelles anymore.

Back a couple years ago when he did the 71 green chevelle and put the ghost flames in the stripes, at least that was original and cool. The rally stipes on the 64 did nothing for the car, just my opinon.

I know they used the Hotchkis TVS system, but it looked lower than a 1" drop. I wonder if they used 2" drop springs? I know they have some in development. I thought the stance was killer.

I have the hotchkis (or as my wife says Hot Chicks) 1 in drop in my car and it still needs to come down another 2 inches in the front I am guessing they used dropped spindles too. I just cant understand how they get the front wheels to turn sie to side without tearing the fenders off

car was OK, didn't care for the stripes or the wheels. As for the girl, the rings and bolts in her lips (and who knows where else) screwed up what probably was a nice looking girl at one point in her life.

Guess I didn't know it was $.39 to send an email....I better cut back on the ones I am sending....also did not know a form letter and customer service was so labor intensive.....better let the world of business in on that one.
I wonder how they ever find the money to put the show on the air.....

My $.02 on the 64 last night was it looked good before it got stripped....my opinion is that stripes do noy belong on 64 or 65's.

Did anyone notice the wrench that fell off the car onto the frame when the body was being sanded? I sort of did a mini-cringe when it happened as the frame had already been done.

Nice car, but I'd lose the stripes.

Since my SS has rust in all the same places as hers, now I'll know what mine will look like when it comes back from the media blaster! I think I'm sticking with one color body and possibly a mixed appointment interior. My favorite thing about the car when it was done was the stance. 64elkynss

Personally, I liked the original color WITHOUT the stripes! Also like the BEFORE stance and rally wheels (looked more classic). I assume the engine was not original 'cause Chip is usually pretty good about keeping the original engine if it valued the car. Girl was hot (except for the tattoos and funny colors and "bolt-ons").
