: What might this Holley carb be worth?

First off, hello everyone!

I just recently picked up a 396 for my 70 mali project and noticed that the Holley carb it has on it has a GM part number. After some research, I found that the number on this carb says it's for a corvette. (Another source said it's from a Z-16 motor?!?!)


The number on the carb is 3868826.

I found a site that gave me this info:

Holley R3124A #3868826: 396ci, 425hp

Another site said it's from a 427.

Some sites say it's for a 65-67 vette.

Our Holley book says it's for a 396/427. Said early to mid 60's.

I was hoping someone here could give me an idea what it may be, what it may be worth, and point me in the right direction of maybe selling it.

Hi Mike,i watch a lot of these type parts on ebay and also sell many muslce car parts too.

If that carb is truely for a z16 or 65 vette 396/425 hp motor and is complete in good cond with all original parts it could be worth a lot even as a core for rbld to a restorer.

I have seen similar carbs for rbld sell for $1,500-2k in the past for 65 396 vette or z16 because those cars go for BIG BUCKS.

It just depends of if there are people looking for that carb at the time your selling it.

I saw an NOS dual snorkle air cleaner still in GM box for a 70 non cowel LS6 go for $6,000 on ebay these muscle car parts prices are going crazy.

I have seen 37 amp alt cores for rbld that fit like 1969 z28 & copo camaros chevelles novas go for over $1,000 on ebay.

So who knows if your carb is correct for the applications you say it is it could possibly go for a lots of $ considering it's just a 40 yr old holley 4 barrel carb for rbld/resto.

The 3124 is a `65 Corvette 396 carb.

As far as value, that pretty much depends on the date code, which is stamped just below the LIST 3124.

The date code reads 801. The stamps on the car looks like this:

That is a "service dated" carburetor, meaning it was made after the production of the vehicle was over as a warranty replacement-type part.

The date code breaks down as follows:

The first digit is the year

The second digit is the month

The third digit is the week of the month (first week through fifth week)

8 = 1968
O = October (1-9 were used for Jan through Sept, "O" for October, "A" for November and "B" for December)
1 = the first week of the month.

What Eric said plus this: if it had been sokd on a car it would have a two letter engine code after the Chevy part number. -EH was popular.

It does have a 2 letter code after the #. I don't have it in front of me right now, but I want to say it's CS or CH, somehting like that starting with a C.

either way its a serveice replacement and will not demand the money that a factory dated carb would bring with a 5 date

My father was looking through his Holley carb collection and has this 3310. I think his is original, not a service replacement. It has 3878261 EH dated DA2.
From what I can tell, A2 means January 2 (and the D should mean 1964 - coded for a 1965 car). Is this correct and what is it worth? When I asked my father if he would sell it he said "everything is for sale - for the right price". Thanks.

Sorry,

I think I got the date code wrong. It is DA2, which I think is November 2, 1964 (for the 1965 model year).

Year code (first digit) is supposed to be a number. Either it was stamped wrong or maybe the D is a zero. That would be 1970. But it sure looks like the letter D even with a magnifying glass. My guess is it is not from a 65 car. It would be extremely rare if it was.

Probably 1970 , Nov, 2 week. Unless stamped wrong. so original or service replacement for a 66 chevelle 375HP 396. Not possibly a 65 model year, if Nov date is correct.

That would be 0A2, or the 2nd week of November 1970.

0 = 1970

A = November

2 = 2nd week.

I am a newb so bear with me but does his 3124 750 Holley have any other applications as a service carb than 65 Corvette 396/425HP carb? It just strikes me as odd that In the name of Chevy interchange it would be one year, one car replacement carb. Or am I thinking way off? Wouldn't it be used on chevelle, or any other applications? :(

The 396/425 was available in the Corvette and the full size B body cars, and the "de-tuned" 375 HP version was installed in the Z16 Chevelles. All installations had their own proprietary carb;

3124: 1965 Corvette 396/425

3130: 1965 B body 396/425

3310: 1965 Chevelle Z16 396/375

There were no other applications for each respective carb.
