Kinda looks like a garage job, but what do you guys think. Alot of the ebay companies dont tell which products they use in the engine. These guys say almost all but cam. Pretty good price. There arent really any engine builders locally that I have found. The closest is about 2 hours away.

That guy has been around for a long time.......I am not sure about him but his feedback is pretty good.
I would start by contacting previous buyers of his engines and see what they say.
The price is right for the hp and parts.

I know a guy that had some dealings with this guy and he was not very pleased with the product. He sent the motor back and got a refund, but lost $200 in shipping. My buddy finally bought a ZZ4 gm crate motor.

BrettD85,
I purchased an engine that is currently in my Chevelle from A.R. Racing. I could not be UNHAPPIER with the quality of the engine. I paid for forged pistons, recieved hypereutectics, there were all kinds of bolts missing on the outside, valve lash not set, and to this day, it smokes like a chimney. Short of suing them, I had only filed complaints with the BBB in Va, and am taking it as a lesson learned, and will trust only a builder that has a reputation to uphold to do the machine work. I have put together all parts to rebuild it as a 496, and am looking to do that this winter. If you would like, I can email you the sound and clip of how bad it smokes, sucking oil down the valves, etc. Whenever I pull the intake, I find oil puddling on top of the valves. It sounds great, excellent throttle response, and when I pull the cam, I will reuse it for a 402 that is on the stand. I will calculate comporession to get it close. I just said screw it and start from scratch. At the time I was trying to work with Mark Lim, he had another BBC come back with the very same problem. But sure enough, he has not returned any calls or emails. That is just my experience with him.

yea if he did all the work claimed on there, he would be charging alot more then that
he probably just gets blocks for cheap, orders 2000$ of parts from summitracing, puts it together, and calls it a day. I bet if you bought that and took out the pistons, ud see the rings werent even filed down to spec.
i started questioning this auction when i saw it has pressed pistons, when in my experience, race engines have full floating pistons.

The only advantage to floating pins is the ease of disasembly. We ran pressed pins in our race motors for years with no ploblems.
