I scored a full length fiberglass cowl induction scoop off ebay really cheap and I need some advice how to set it up so it will stay put. I am going to try and install it on one of the stock hoods I have which are steel. I have heard that there is really no way to mate fiberglass and steel but maybe you guys can think of something? I was thinking of cutting out a rectangular piece of the hood so that the cowl sticks through it from the underside of the steel hood. Then making a steel flat piece as a pan which would also sandwich the fiberglass cowl base. Then I could cut out a round hole in the pan for my aircleaner. It sounds complicated but I don't think I can just put the cowl on top of the steel hood or can I? Sorry for the long post, wheels are turning pretty fast in my head....

Juan, I just today did that very thing...I bonded the scoop (harwood fiberglass) to a metal hood using body panel adhesive. It seems to be holding fine, I was assured by several body persons that this would hold with no problems. I am using Mar-Glas to blend onto the hood and smooth all the seams. It's going to require several applications, but it's looking good so far. Im told there will probably be cracking problems sometime down the road, but Im not too concerned with what might happen a couple years down the road, or maybe not at all...Like you, I did give some consideration to cutting the hood and mounting the scoop from underneath, but besides the fact that it would be difficult with all the bracing, I didnt want to loose the height...Its a 4" cowl scoop, and I want all of it above the hood. Good luck. John

Cool! I'm glad to hear that it's not an idea thats way out of reach... I will post pictures of my project when the cowl arrives which should be this weekend.
John, maybe you can email me some pics of your progress so I can get an idea of the items I have to buy and prep work and such...? Thanks a bunch-J

Sure, I'll be doing a little more later today on the hood, I'll take some pics and send you a list of what I did so far. I'll email if you prefer. John

That's a long time for it to finally crack. I can live with that. I can probably afford that nice new goodmark 2 1/4" steel cowl hood by then :D
