: SS stripes--on roof?

I'm currently restoring/customizing a '72 Chevelle. One of the things I want to do is get an SS hood (without Cowl Induction) and add hood and rear deck stripes. One thing I considered was getting whoever paints the car to continue the stripes on the roof.
I know that's not original, but what do you think? Has anyone ever seen this done before? If so, do you have pics? I'd love to see how it looks, and I'd love to hear your opinions.
Thanks!

Personally for the bodystyle of the car, I don't think it would look that good. Would look a little too "dukes of hazzardish" I think

Before you take me too seriously, I'll let you know that I'm just barely 18 and this is the first car I've ever restored. However, that's what I'm doing with my '70. I know it's unoriginal, but I can't see why except for vinyl top cars. I think it looks odd without them, myself, though I've never seen a car that had the roof done yet.

So, After getting your responses, I tried something...I used Photoshop and a picture of a '72 Malibu SS from eBay to see what stripes might look like. It's not perfect, but you can get the idea. Much to my disappointent, it DOESN'T look right.
Garrison, if you do add the stripes on the roof, cool, and good luck. I, on the other hand, will NOT! This picture has changed my mind.
It looks too silly and overdone.

Okay, you're all right. Glad you chopped that picture up now. I don't know why the General chose to leave stripes off the roof, but I suppose that's the way it's got to be now because it looks too damn weird with them. No stripes on the roof, got it.

I have to concur. I've actually seen a couple of Chevelles with roof stripes (custom jobs mind you, they don't come from the factory with roof stripes), and they just don't belong. Something just doesn't quite look right. Maybe it's the size of the car or the shape of the roof, but stripes just don't work on the roof of a Chevelle.

Photo shop or just drawing the darn things on a large photo of the car will tell you.

I have never thought about it on '72 Velle, but personally I like the BALL'S it takes to do it. I like the "in your face" of the stripes over the roof. I see a number of trick pickups with it and I think it looks meaner than snot.

The rest of the car would really have to fit though, tires, wheels, if the car had a roll bar, that sort of thing. It is a BOLD statment, the rest of the car better fit or it would look lame.
