My dash is rusting where it meets the windshield, and i'm assuming i need to weld in a new dash; my question is a 2 parter, first can anyone give me an idea of how much this should cost approximately, and secondly, can anyone recommend someone to do the work that's in the San Francisco Bay Area? Any advice would be appreciated.

What they usualy do in most circumstances is
just cut the rot out, weld in new sheetmetal and fill accordingly.

If you can get a repo dash panel I would install one rather than the cut out and repair method, the rust you see on top is twofold under the panel and by removing it you can prep the metal under it to prevent any future problems. FWIW dash panel replacement is one of the less difficult of jobs compared to quarters and other patches on exterior of the car. Less the panel I would say to remove and replace not including windsheild R&R to be around 300- 400 bucks.

Jorin,
I think I have seen 66-67 repro strips for the windshield base in the parts catalogs...What year car do you have, and is it a "keeper" ? Let me know via email or here.I grew up in SF and have a few ties there...If you want to go that route I can find out who will be able to do it.Shawn
