Ok, so I bought an orignal cherry '68 AM radio to replace the tape deck, and replaced the package shelf covering which had speaker holes in it. Next I noticed the antenna is muffed. I haven't looked closely how to remove it, because I have the car slid into the side of the garage so I cant access it.

To hit the ground running, how do you remove an antenna from a '68? I hope the answer doesn't begin with "take the fender off".

I don't know what kind of antenna assembly Chevy used in 68, but if it is like the 69, you remove the large chrome nut at the base of the antenna and the unit can be removed from below. I just spent 3 hours installing one on my 69 chevelle last night, I had to drill a 1 1/8" hole in the fender, that almost required a tranquilizer. Anyway, I forgot to mention that at the very bottom of the aerial is a small chrome nut that will allow you to remove the mast itself leaving the fitting that attaches to the antenna wire. Good Luck.
