I'm going to paint my car PPG single stage black.

I've been told they have to do both sides of it??
Should they be gloss, or semi-gloss black?
Can you paint over this stuff?
I would like to have the whole engine bay look the same color if possible...

Thanks,
Jack

Jack,

I don't understand what your question is. Are you talking about powdercoating your inner fenders/engine/engine compartment on a car that is painted black? As far as powdercoating goes you can mask anything you don't want coated - just like paint - only use a high temp tape.

Sorry about that. I should of had my coffee first.
The car isn't painted yet. It will be
PPG black.
The engine compartment and exterior will be that color.

I was told to powder coat the inner fenders for the durability. Good idea?
The choices of powder coating are gloss, semi-gloss, and flat black.
I'm just trying to figure out how to best achieve color uniformaty throughout.

I'm thinking that the powder coating black will not look like the PPG black applied to the engine compartment and outer fenders.
I don't want contrasting blacks if I can avoid it.
Hopefully I explained myself better...

Jack, It's up to you about the powdercoating. You may see a slight difference in color between the PPG urethane and the powder coat, but you have to decide what look you are going for. If you are into the correct "resto" look then you inner fenders will be flattened black and it shouldn't matter if it's powder or paint. In my opinion, properly applied paint hold up pretty good under there, My black '67 is all paint-- no powder coat but many people think it looks like powder. Ed

Jack baby,

Super Chevy magazine has an article this month on powdercoating. Check it out. If I could afford it, I would powercoat all under surfaces.
