Hi all,
I'm getting close to finishing up my tailgate and would like your input on wheather to apply the fake wood decal, or just paint it black. What do you think? Thanks in advance!

On any other car I would say keep the woodgrain but on yours I would just do it in black, it would go good with the vinyl top. BTW, your "Chevrolet" emblem on the grille should be up one row higher than it is. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif Nice car!

It is in place.

It doesn't really go anywhere else..
The Chevrolet emblem / Chevelle emblem has a special part in the grill to put it in.. (Unlike the SS emblem..)
If it is there, it means that it should be there.. (Look behind your grill and you'll see.. It has a special mounting spot.)

Thanks again for your input guys. Looks like its going to be black! http://www.chevelles.com/forum/cool.gif
I pretty much took a guess about the location of the chevrolet emblem. It was off the car when I bought it.

Frank,
Very nice 70... Is that the original color? I posed a question to the group earlier about the black on the tailgates of "SS" cars, specifically 70 and was informed that all "SS" cars had the black on the tailgate and the black was sort of a semi-gloss, either way, (gloss or the original semi-gloss) I vote black on yours.

I also vote for black.

Does anyone know a name of a satin or semi gloss black that I should use for my tail gate and stripes on the hood?

I am also painting the lower rocker panel area below the chrome the same black.
