This site is best for info. on my chevelle.

As a soon to be homeowner, where can I get info. on plumbing, window installation, electrical work....etc. for DIY????

I will also visit the local library, but the internet is great for killing time at work!

Thanks,
Matt

Congratulations on this rewarding but time consuming endeaver, owning and maintaining a house.

For a lot of basic information the DIY network of cable TV has a site:
http://www.diynetwork.com/
where you can search and find a lof of info. When nothing better is on TV you can watch programs on PBS, DIY, Home and Garden TV and the rest
and learn a lot too. My son learned a lot from watching This Old House when he was five. Just loved Norm, and one day got a chance to meet him at a home show, and asked Norm where his tool belt was. He also enjoyed meeting Miss Makita!

My first home....can't wait....we close in 3 weeks. The chevelle has a big 2.5 car garage....lucky bastard!

The plumbing is original galvanized and corroded. Some of the electrical is pretty shady. Original windows. Home was built in 1961. I wanted a roughed up fixer-upper and thats what I got.

Thanks,
Matt

I've found both 'Fine Homebuilding' and "Old House Journal' to be 2 good magazines for this stuff. FH is mostly new construction but the ideas are the same and OHJ is geared more toward older homes, but again, the ideas are the same. Both should be on the shelf at Borders or Barnes & Noble so you can check them out before you purchase

FH also has a nice web site with some articles archived. I think it's a mix of free and for purchase
