: The Firebird on PINKS?
chevelledude71 Aug 31st, 06, 7:23 PM Did anyone see what it went for on Ebay. I was out of town for two weeks, and I deleted it yesterday before I checked the date on the show. But, I remember Camaro Bro saying it will be for sale on EBAY once the show aired.
I have a buddy that would lose a n&t for that firebird. He hates it when I call them "FIRECHICKENS", but I want to send him the link anyway.

Here is the auction for the firebird.

Junkyard Dawg Sep 7th, 06, 1:34 PM Wonder what it'll go for?
00WS6TA Sep 7th, 06, 2:47 PM Which I would have seen that episode of Pinks :(
One sharp Firebird!
1BLACKHARLEY Sep 7th, 06, 3:04 PM Wonder what it'll go for?
first off, who thinks that bird is really worth 40+? second how do we know that the original owner isn't bidding on the car, after all he could bid a million $, but do you think he's really going to pay his brother? i think these guys are good brothers who figured out a way to race, and keep thier cars. it was great racing, they are great competitive drivers who build bitchin cars, i doubt that car leaves the family.
anybody watch that monte eat that wagon last night? 11 second car my butt!!!!
003LAT Sep 7th, 06, 3:28 PM anybody watch that monte eat that wagon last night? 11 second car my butt!!!![/QUOTE]
yeah that monte was just playin them ...
Junkyard Dawg Sep 7th, 06, 4:51 PM I saw that too, that Monte had to have been doing some serious sandbagging. I don't even call that fair but that's what you get for being enough of an idiot to put your car on PINKS.
Oh, and if you want to see the '68 Firebird that's on ebay in action they've been airing that episode this past week as a rerun.
Rich69RS/SS Sep 7th, 06, 5:22 PM anybody watch that monte eat that wagon last night? 11 second car my butt!!!!
Maybe PINKS should put a stop on NOS systems, this might even it out a bit more. The Monte just played with the wagon.
DOUG G Sep 7th, 06, 5:35 PM I thought the Monte had to lose the N2O but still "nosed" him when the wagon was on 2 stages ? Oh well, it was late.
Paddy Sep 7th, 06, 7:36 PM Harley,
Yes, the brothers & their dad are very competitive racers who sink alot of money, time and ingenuity into their rides. Is this car worth 40,000 +? I guess we'll see if it is to someone when the bidding is done.
I don't know if the ebay sale is "just for TV" or not but I'm sure ebay would be a bit miffed if it was bogus. I haven't talked directly to Tim or Todd but our mutual friends say it's for real. Anyway it turns out I'll let everyone here know.
One thing I know for sure is Todd really is attached to that car.
Gary
WILD72 Sep 7th, 06, 9:31 PM Todd could still end up with the car. He could have a friend bid on it to win. Then his brother could let it go for less and Todd could buy it back. They never said anything on PINKS about Todd not being able to buy it back....
DOUG G Sep 8th, 06, 5:03 PM Still need to pay E-Bay fees.
1BLACKHARLEY Sep 8th, 06, 6:01 PM Still need to pay E-Bay fees.
what's that ? $45.00, and e-bay has proven time and again, they don't know what's sold on thier site. i've been told time and again, (by people on this site) that race cars (barring historical stuff) never go for anywhere near, what's invested in them, then he quips 45k on the show, and lo and behold, it's at 45k on the auction.
look. i liked those guys, great racers and looked to be a genuinely close family, and it looked to be killing him that he was loosing it. it's just all a little fishy. to be honest, i don't really care, i hope he gets his ride back, but of all the shows, with guys giving cars back, and rumor that lost cars are with the original owners, i think this one was the oddest of the bunch. but i tell you what, i hope those guys go at it again, they put on a great show, brought some wicked cars, and was one of the better episodes.
i wouldn't mind if they did it like when they had the pro bikes, have the owners either go in and buy a "winners vehicle" or put up a bounty, say 10k or so.....
WILD72 Sep 8th, 06, 8:21 PM Check it out right now....Retracted bids that were over the reserve !!!! NOW reserve not met !!! Thats what is going to happen !!! It will never meet the reserve !!! The reserve is $42,000....

chevelledude71 Sep 8th, 06, 9:10 PM It was a good episode in my eyes and the negotiations were pretty solid. The best negotiation may have been for the "loser" negotiating a way to get his car back if he lost.
I like that firebird and I think it would be worth at least 44k after all, it cost more to build that car I'm sure? But, we all know you can't put a price on sentimental value.
greebs99 Sep 8th, 06, 10:47 PM Which I would have seen that episode of Pinks :(
One sharp Firebird!
sure you'll get to see it again, they replay them over and over. both cars on that episode were pretty impressive. they both sure could tote the tires/
WILD72 Sep 12th, 06, 9:24 AM Click the link then click bids and scroll all the way to the bottom.... All the bids over 42,000 which is the reserve price got retracted !!! That car wont sell !!! I bet if you bid on it and go over 42,000 they contact you and offer you money to allow them to retract the bid...
