My 69 is going to the shop for paint. I need to know, also. Anyone know the "correct" black color?

Well, This may add to the problem but the paint info that came with the SS stripe kit I have from Stencils and Stripes gives Low Gloss Black(DDL9381)as the color for accent areas and black(9000)for stripes. This is per a PPG product sheet for 71/72 Chevelles. By the way the DDL stands for acrlic lacquer.

Hope this helps! It should give you a starting point.

Big James, Can't wait to see more pictures of Ol paint.
If you haven't done the stripe stencils before be prepared. It took my painter and I over 3 hours to lay the stripes straight on the 442,once the stencils are in place try to look from the drivers seat at the placement and straightness-you'll see it every time you drive the car and if you're like me the eyes always get drawn to the flaws

Thanks for the tip Phil! I'm still have several weeks worth of body work/priming/assembly to do yet. I'm taking pictures all along and will post them as I do. Had a tense moment today repairing a crack in the metal around the big end of the door handle hole/mount. Ended up cutting out a piece and welding in a patch, Whew, scary! redrilled the bolt hole and everthing is fine now though.
