When you shoot lacquer paint it doesn't look to shiney kinda like a flat color can you buff it to a smooth finish. This stuf is easy to paint with so I was going to try it.

No problem, you can spray on 5or6 coats, let it dry a couple of days sand it with 1200 wet, then buff by hand or machine. stuffs real easy to work with.

You can make laqure look like a mirror. Keep rubbing and polishing.

Few things about lacquer..
It won't keep a shine like it use to ( no more lead in the paint)
The lacquer is real particular as to what it's sprayed over.. So use a good primer sealer that has fully cured..
Expect to rebuff after about a month as it will dull out a bit.
And it chips really easily..

Redrider, just so are clear, unless the color has a yellow in it it wouldn't have lead anyway. Lead is needed for coverage Yellow is very transparent and the lead is needed. Now Red as I remember has lead also but even lead free seams to cover well so this doesn't make sense but that is what I remember. There has been lead free lac, ena, urethanes, etc for ever and still are. They used to cover like crap but the newer stuff that I have shot works very well. Just remember a white or blue paint for instance never had lead, no matter what "kind" of paint.

I'll second that !

It is so easy to shoot that it's almost impossible to mess it up with nice wet coats over a properly prepaired surface (unless you get it so thick it gets spider web cracks later)

but the rock chips are terrible, after the car is driven a couple or three years, it will need to be completely done over again
