What brand seems to be the best for the price, and what would i need? i need something that will at least handel a 700 ft lbs of tourq launch, on motor, + a 300 shot from the fogger off the line!!! it is a full steel body car 3800+. Also it needs to be able to grow with me. what do you guys think? tell me if you need more info.

When you get over 1200 lb-ft. of torque they start breaking with alarming frequency, five sprags and counting. My sons car was mid 3500 lb. run weight but now is over 3600 and has a big motor with a lot of power. The 540 we had in the car seemed O.K. down to mid 8.60's but the 598 has way more steam. I think maybe a glide is more reliable. Expect prices to be in the $5,000 range for anything that will hold up.

I'll second the recommendation of Rossler. He quotes a full competition th400 with manual reverse and trans brake at $1,345.00 on his website. Sounds like a deal to me!
I have his street/strip th400 and am very happy with it. Check him out....
