I have a 66 Chevelle that the right hand door doesn't seal properly. Almost all of the noise comes from where the front edge of the vent window meets the door opening and along the top front half of the main door window. The weather stripping seems good along the edge. Is there a way to adjust the door to get that to seal better?
Thanks in advance,
Kevin C

Someone else here is probably better suited to answer this, but I can tell you I adjusted my door a little. I opened the door and used a floor jack to prop up the end a little. Then I loosened all the bolts and "lifted" and "twisted" until I got close. Tightened everything up and lowered the jack. Door still didn't line up perfectly, but was better than before. I'll have it done "correct" when it goes to the body/paint shop. Sorry, I know it wasn't much help, but it's a start.

Try replacing your hinge bushings, that might help. You'll have to remove your door to do this though.

THanks for your responses. I already checked the door hinges and they are tight. The door fits perfect with the rear quarter panel and fender. I looked more closely at the weather stripping and it appears to be aged a bit. There aren't any cracks in it though. Does weatherstripping shrink over time? It only leaks when I go over 50 MPH.
Thanks again,
Kevin

try loosening the bolts that go from the hinge to the door.just loosen the top ones and push the top of the door in.then tighten them.this might throw of the alignment to your fender, which opens a whole other can of worms.

You're right about the weatherstrips shrinking. If the door lines up with the fender and quarter panel I would recommend replacing the "strip". I bought mine from Metro and their stuff fits really nice. Their number is 800-878-2237 only if you're interested.
