Hey guys,

I'm getting ready to repaint my 70 with it's original Astro Blue, but was told the only way to get the paint is in single stage. I'm wondering if anyone out there has had bb/cc mixed up (preferably Dupont Chromabase)and if they could provide me with the formula. Any help would be appreciated.

You should be able to go to any auto parts store that sells Dupont ChromaBase products and have them look up the formula based on your year and color code. I believe Astro Blue is code 25.

Yep, I've tried that, but they say they can only mix it in single stage (Centari). Surely somebody out there has used a BB/CC Astro Blue. I really hate to think about using a single stage topped with a clear coat. Bummer.

My car was painted with Dupont Chromabase(Astro blue #25)there was only a formula for that color in Centari so it had to be custom color matched.
Originally the body shop that was painting the car had their paint supplier scan a part of the car that still had some original paint on it but the color was way off and the metalic was too big. So I went to a Dupont supplier that I have used in the past that still matches paint the old fashion way and said he doesn't believe in those scanners. He needed a good sample to match off of but there wasn't a good enough spot of original paint on my car to do it.So he pulled a few strings and managed to borrow the file folder with paint sample on Astro Blue #25 from the archives at Duponts rattle can division "Duplicolor" which he used to work for years back and still had some connections at.
He matched it to that sample and it came out great.I would try to get a good clean sample from the car and find a Dupont supplier that still matches paint by eye and trial/error to get as close to the correct shade that was originally on the car since even the color/shade varied from plant to plant.
Hope this helps.
