I bought new mouldings for my 66 but have yet to install them cause I have heard so many nightmares about putting them on. My car is painted now and if putting them on could result in a scratched up paint job and nothing to cover it, I would rather run without them.
So here is a poll question.....What do you other members think.....Drip moulding or no drip moulding?

Had the same dilema..but after putting on lots of tape and having a extra set of hands it went on with no problems..patience is the best tool for the job as well. Good luck.

I would put them back on. What Al said above, get an extra set of hands.

Put them back on. Plan it out and an extra set of hands is almost always helpful. I put drip rail molding on my sons' 66 Nova, pretty similar to the 66 Chevelle. I worked from the front to the rear working the drip rail molding on. Put something on the other end of it to keep it from wacking the car or lay a blanket on the roof and sail panel area to protect it. The only area that was scary was the curve at the sail panel where I though I might kink the molding, ease it into place and it doesn't kink... Good luck.

I had pretty good luck with the repo's I ended up using on my '67. It was pretty easy actually.

I threw the idea of putting them on or leaving them off a while back too. I decided to use them. You really cant paint with them on so the only choice is to wait till after its painted to put them back on.

I'll be color sanding and buffing later this week and will be putting them on afterward. Sounds like it wont be too terribly involved. Got the rocker moldings, both front and rear, on and the hood back on today. Speaking of which the hood clears the Air Gap/Holley Street Avenger easily. That was another concern. Used a drop base air cleaner with a 3" filter and it fits fine.
Thanks for the responses. I will post pics when I get her rolling.

I welded together 2 pieces of 1" bar stock seperated with 5/16 nuts to "clamp" the molding for 5" long. I then welded on a piece of 6" pipe as a handle to gentle pry of the strip. It worked great.
