Does anyone know why there are no replacement SS grills listed in any of the online or print catalogs for a '71 SS? The only ones I can find(NPD, Year One, etc.)are completely Argent silver, not the black/silver trim I thought was the original '71 factory SS grill. I must be missing something here, but can't figure out what it is. Thanks for any help.

I had the same question so I called Goodmark and was told that you will need to paint them black yourself for a SS.

Besides having to paint them black, you also have to buy the 5 piece chrome trim package. There are 3 cross bars and 2 "E" bars on each end that are chrome, unless you already have them and can transfer from the old to the new grill.

I used SEM Brand - Landau black (a paint actually made for plastic) for the black portion. The black has the perfect satin finish. Then I snapped the chrome on. The end "E" shaped portions go on first, then each bar. My grille was an NOS one I bought back in 1989 and it was all silver. I think GM discontinued them shortly after that. The lower portion of the grille that is out side the chrome trim is painted the color of the car. You will also need the Chevrolet emblem and of course the SS emblem.

Thanks for the replies and information. Sounds like a little more work than I was prepared for, but nothing that can't be handled.
