I'm changing the 350 in my '70 from 2bbl to a 4 bbl. I bought a chrome air cleaner that I want to paint black. For the improved air flow I figure its worth keeping but I want to change the looks a bit: if its not original chrome - its ugly chrome (sorry to those who are offended by that). Is it possible to scuff it then primer and paint, or is chrome too hard for that? I don't want to butcher the thing, if its not worth it I'll leave it as is. Thanks for any tips.

Degease, scuff with 400, wipe with lacquer thinner, prime, scuff again and paint. No problem.
