Picked these up off ebay a year ago, stripped off the wrinkle finish black paint, and had been sitting on my shelf since then.

I needed something cool to go on the new crate 454 thats in my car now, so had these polished this week.

Just wanted to share!

Ben, I'm envious, those things are BEAUTIFUL!!! I've been looking for a set of Edelbrock big block valve covers like that for sometime now but just yesterday I settled on a set of Mickey Thompson sand cast aluminum with offenhauser breathers. I have a set of vintage Edelbrock curved script covers on my '72 small block Elky, they look AWESOME.

Cool stuff Greg! George is pretty happy with his new heads too- reports a 20-30hp gain on the seat of the pants dyno. ;-)

I just sent you a PM, if you are headed up to clearview tonight, you should swing by my place and check out the progress!

Later-
Ben

So how much was that to polish? I've got some Cal Custom v/c that need polishing.

$200 :( These were really badly corroded underneath... I think next time i'll invest the money in my own buffer motor, considering this is the 4th or 5th set i've had done in the last 5 years or so, but they were always $100-$150 in the past. Inflation i guess.
Oh well, i'm happy with the result, so i won't focus too much on the cost :)

Digging up an old topic, but jeez I'd love to have my Cal-Custom BBC valve covers look that good.

You should warn people that you're going to put something THAT shiny on the screen. I may never see again!

Wow, this post is a blast from the past...

Very nice!! How did you do that?? With a wheel??

Naw- with a couple $100 bills ;)

My polisher guy started with Wet/dry sanpaper, sanded by hand to take off the super rough oxidation that was on them, then hit them with a wheel. Lot of dremel action to get the inside of those fins to shine like that.

They looked like they had been left outside in the rain for 20 years before he started.

This reminds me I need to hurry up and build baffles for them so I can run them for show season this year! They're still sitting inside a box on my shelf!

:p
