ratuned Aug 25th, 06, 8:28 PM has anyone ever seen this intake? has anyone ever used one? i thought that i might have seen everything over the years but thought this might be kinda cool.

pdq67 Aug 25th, 06, 8:36 PM I figure they maybe later turned it into the C454 intake??
You just might e-mail E-brock and ask them what the story is on it? I did about their old SB and BB SP-2P 4-barrel intakes just to know is all.
They answered back promptly......

Bill70 Aug 25th, 06, 8:56 PM Maybe it was designed for a tall deck block. Since the block is .400 taller the name C400 makes more sense.
Tom Mobley Aug 25th, 06, 10:10 PM doesn't look wide to me, but Dominator/oval port? that's a little unusual..... I'll bet they sold a dozen.
ezst70 Aug 25th, 06, 11:27 PM Looks like a torker intake to me.
sschevellefan Aug 26th, 06, 12:25 AM Looks like a torker intake to me.
it doesn`t look anything like a torker to me. The torker had straight runers and was a single plain intake with a twisted carb pad. it looks more like the GM performance intake similar to the L88 only with oval ports and a dominator carb pad. If I had a bbc I would consider picking it up. you never know, it might be a great performance intake.
BillsCamino Aug 26th, 06, 7:58 AM but Dominator/oval port? that's a little unusual..... I'll bet they sold a dozen.
Dominator flange...oval port...and it's a dual plane intake too. Wierd!
Keith Tedford Aug 26th, 06, 8:03 AM Looks the same as a C396 with the dominator large flange. It's definitely not torquer style. I have a C427X which looks similar except that it has the standard carb flange and rectangular ports.
ChevelleRob Aug 26th, 06, 10:55 AM My old boss had one of those. Probably still does.
ratuned Aug 26th, 06, 10:57 AM i kinda want it just because i've never seen one!! but i really have no use for it.

I thought the same thing... :)
Harold Sutton Aug 26th, 06, 11:16 AM has anyone ever seen this intake? has anyone ever used one? i thought that i might have seen everything over the years but thought this might be kinda cool.

I have one of the C454 dual plane dominator manifolds but it states that this one is for an "oval port" motor. The "square port C454" works real well so i'd assume this one would too.
Harold Sutton Aug 26th, 06, 11:19 AM Maybe it was designed for a tall deck block. Since the block is .400 taller the name C400 makes more sense. Read underneath the manifold's picture and it tells what it is. I've never seen one before though. "Bob West", if your looking you should bid on it and try a dominator.
Harold Sutton Aug 26th, 06, 11:24 AM Looks like a torker intake to me. Looks like every other "dual plane" to me except it has a dominator carb. mounting pad.
Mike Feudo Aug 26th, 06, 6:39 PM Looks like a C-454 that the runners are necked down at the head surface for an oval port. It looks like it has the large runners that the C-454 has it might work real well with an adaptor for a std Holley.
pdq67 Aug 26th, 06, 10:41 PM I bet that with an adapter to mount a 780 or 830 carb. b/c of it's big plenum that it will be one heck of an oval port intake.

540Hotrod Aug 26th, 06, 11:27 PM It's a pretty rare piece...I've only seen a few of them over the years. Y'all are right..it's a cross between a C-396 and a C-454. I think it's pretty neat and worth getting your hands on.
I've got a C-454 that I'm going to do something with one of these days.
