: Emissions Testing Oklahoma
d1_bradley Aug 24th, 06, 4:39 PM Been almost 20 yrs since I've lived there. Do they require testing? And, what years are exempt? Went to their DMV site and didn't find anything. Back in the day it was just a "safety" test, lights, horn, tires, etc.
I have a 06 C6 Vette, '33 Chevy hotrod and '94 Pathfinder.
gburden1 Aug 24th, 06, 6:08 PM They dont even do the safety inspections anymore, did away with them in about 2001.Really kind of a shame because we got some real junk running up and down the road.
d1_bradley Aug 24th, 06, 6:25 PM Thanks for the response. Probably moving back to the Keystone Lake area in about 9 months. (Retirement) Just trying to get ahead on what's needed. We don't have any testing here either (Yuma County) Kind of nice, but like you say we have our share of "beaters".
gburden1 Aug 24th, 06, 7:22 PM Thats cool to hear . Let me know when you hit town . Okie 1 aka Billy Neal and myself try to hit a few shows in ne Oklaevery year to visit and shoot the breeze.I do have a question , why in the world would anyone move here on purpose?
BLU69 Aug 24th, 06, 8:44 PM Yea, I'd have to ask that same question.
Okie-1 Aug 24th, 06, 9:16 PM Welcome back to Okla. Dave ! ,i like living in okie-land myself , it's alittle hot rite now:) but i bet AZ. is to .......Billy
Clint44 Aug 24th, 06, 9:20 PM Nothing wrong with Oklahoma. I'm moving back when I retire.
Where is Keystone Lake located?
68Phoenix Aug 24th, 06, 11:23 PM I've been here a year now. I knda like it! Hot tho'
Skeeveman Aug 24th, 06, 11:45 PM I used to live on the Kansas/Oklahoma border, in Coffeyville, Ks. Bartlesville and Tulsa were our hotspots to go on weekends and summer nights. I miss the desolate midwest at times... I'll probably go back in my old age, but for now, 'hotlanta is the place for me.
DZAUTO Aug 25th, 06, 12:58 AM Gov Frank Keating did away with the state inspections/emissions requirements. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, there may be some junk on the roads, but some of the inspection requirements were dumb as a rock and twice as stupid!
Bill Pritchard Aug 25th, 06, 3:43 PM Oh sure.....I'm getting ready to move to AZ and you're leaving for OK!!!
d1_bradley Aug 25th, 06, 4:26 PM Yep Bill, so it goes.......... I grew up in OK. From 5yrs old till about 30 or so. Then moved to CO for about 15 yrs, then to AZ for the last 15.... Keystone lake is about 30 miles west of Tulsa. I lived near there when I left for CO. As to why OK, well lots of good people live there, and there are 4 seasons. I'm kind of tired of HOT and HOTTER being the two seasons. 109 today, 109 tomorrow.... well you get the idea. Just have to be careful, "some" of my exwives still live around there (I think).... :) And there is a dirt track, roadcourse and drag strip all within a few miles.
DaleM Aug 25th, 06, 4:54 PM Be nice to have you, Dave. I'm on the southern end of Oklahoma and don't get up to OKC or Tulsa too often but it's still a good, central location for you get over to Arkansas, up to Kansas or even Nebraska, Missouri, and Texas are all with an easy day's drive for shows and events. Can even make it to Nashville for Chevell~abration in one day.
YLO FEVR Aug 25th, 06, 11:09 PM To add to the Okie-inventory, I'll chime in too! Welcome back! Been here (Sulphur) nearly a year now following retirement from South Dakota. I too like the four seasons (contrasted to the brown and white ones in SD). As noted there are some fine folks here, great m/c rides, and in the Arbuckles, a lot of topography and cover (for some reason people think Oklahoma looks like eastern Colorado_______!) Found a nearby body shop for the Mali rebuild next month so life is good. Sorry, I've not wandered over to Tulsa or S'water but had a great ride over to Wichita Wildlife Refuge last fall.
Cheers, Bill
BLU69 Aug 26th, 06, 1:47 AM 4 seasons! HA, thats funny. My wife (a yankee transplant) claims we don't have spring or fall...

68Phoenix Aug 26th, 06, 1:54 PM As to why OK, well lots of good people live there, and there are 4 seasons. I'm kind of tired of HOT and HOTTER being the two seasons. 109 today, 109 tomorrow.... well you get the idea. Ummmm... well here in Stillwater it's been 107 today, 107 tomorrow for about 30 days. But it's only 102 now. And where's that "wind" "whistling down the plains"?
Stillwater doen't have much going on with car shows. Probably too much turnover as the students come and go every few years. It's nice to see the new cars in town every September! But the only stable group of car enthusiasts (meaning, they've been around for a long time) in town don't do cruises, they get together on saturday mornings and give seminars. I like the talks a lot, but miss the evening cruises. I still haven't found a local garage or shop that really likes to work on restorations. There are a couple incredible hotrod and racing shops nearby, but they are too good and I can't afford them
If I ever get my shop built, I'm thinking of starting a local (low-key) Chevelle club. It'll be different with all the turnover, and mostly younger people I'm sure. They'll probably wonder why all the meetings end so early (because I'm an old fart :boring: ).
