I had to cut/split the cowl seal I got for my car because the orginal has a tri angle shape that is split at the bottom and the fasteners go through the inside base of the triangle (if you can visualize that). The replacement one I got was not cut in the right place, but it had a thinner area where the split belonged. I also used the plastic clips and screwed up. I should have either put the seal on before I replaced the hood, or used the metal ones which are easier to intall. It takes a lot more pressure to drive them in than the metal ones. Also, I used a nail into a block of wood to make a pilot hole for the fasteners.

BTW, the seal runs in a swallow v shape across the cowl. There are pre-drilled holes for the fasteners across the top of your cowl. I had an advantage because I had my 70 to look at to figure out how it worked. One thing that really bugged me about the seal kit I got was the lack of any pictures or instructions. I spent a lot of time running around behind the garage and uncovering my 70 (future project) to figure out how some piece of trim or rubber went on the car.
