I moved this one from Brake conversions to here to try and get more exposure.
What donor would have the largest rear drum brakes I could put on a 64 Chevelle? Assuming I'm replacing the entire drum setup and want to keep the 15 inch wheels and bolt pattern. Impala, Monte?
Thanks.

the 73 to 77 Malibu's and Monte Carlos had 11" rear brakes that will bolt up the the stock housings. Do a search for more info.

Thanks. That's all I need to start my research.

Some of the Olds wagons had wider brakes. I have an O type rear from a 72 Vista Cruiser and it has 9" x 2.5" rear brakes. When looking for the 11" from the 73 - 77 a bodies check out the wagons and cop cars. All of them had the larger brakes, it was optional on the others. The A bodies have the same bolt pattern as our Chevelles. The B body cars will have the larger brakes. If you find a set in the wrecking yard the backing plates will bolt on ok, but don't waste your money buying the drums, the bolt pattern is 5 on 5". You will need the A body drums. If you need to buy new drums ask for 77 Pontiac Le Mans Enforcer (police package) it had 11" brakes and the 5 on 4.75" pattern.
