I just scored a set of vinyl top trim pieces for my 65..
they have only 1 of the original mounting studs.. i don't see any threads on it so i am assuming that they are held on by push on clips on the inside of the car..
can someone verify this for me??

I think the question should be asked again. Are you wanting to put a vinyl top on your chevelle? If so, I would say don't do it. Gets too much moisture under it when it gets wet. But if you really want to then there are little fasteners that are welded along the rails from the factory. There are some aftermarket companies that make a rivet type, but not sure where to get them. They are called nail clips I think.
