Need some advise on how to fix my ’65 Chevelle passenger door window. 2dr, 300, base model with the door panels removed ready for fix. The upper U-channel gooped against the glass is still attached. The lower glass channel that has the two rollers has disconnected from the upper channel. Looks like these two channels are originally spot welded together in two places before the goop and glass bond into the upper channel. Is this correct? My idea is to use my 110v Lincoln on low and carefully tack each end back together. I will be very careful to avoid excessive heat with wet rags and also by being quick. I first need to confirm if it's actually steel and not aluminum (will do tonight). Does anyone have another idea of how to reattach these two channels? I've been dwelling on this today getting ready for weekend to-do list

Thanks,

Michael

You are exactly on track...no pun intended.
Just make sure the glass is completely covered to avoid any spatter. I think you'd have to get it pretty hot to break the glass.

Thanks for the reasurance. I looked at it again last night. It is steel and couldn't see any odvious reasons why the plan won't work. I'll give it a shot. Covering the glass, good point, may have forgot that untill too late. I might have pulled a Homer Simpson. Doooope
