just below the cast# there is a T turned on its side what is its meaning all i can see on this engine is cast# the engine in my car has same markings and in bell housing area it says hiperf truck pass that makes it a truck right? need 396/375 69 engine dont think ether one is new to this but learning the hard way

Don't be surprised, if the (T, turned on its side) block is a 4 bolt main..............

Pertaining to, the big block chevy, and in particular #3963512 (427/454) engine blocks........

This observation may be wrong, but, this is what I have seen.......
1.)all the factory 4 bolt main #3963512 blocks that I have seen, have the (T), turned on it's side...

2.)all the factory 2 bolt main #3963512 blocks that I have seen, have the (P), turned on it's side...

If the (T) stands for Tonawanda.........What does the (P) on it's side stand for???........Don.

the T is cast not stamped on engine i was looking at . the one in my car also has a T cast just below the block cast # also my block has cast in bellhousing area hiperf truck pass 2 bolt main cast crank cast on side of mine is june 1968 block STAMPED oct1969 375 hp with vin# heads cast march/may 68 intake alum winters cast june 1965 . front of block on pad stamped 375oct69 with vin # checked # alll looked right on block got it home 2 bolt main cast crank oval heads all orignel matching # like I said learing the hard way di not find this web site till to late looking for all right parts to build 375hp
