Just curious on the wagons if it was ever possible to get a big block? Or were wagons only limited to small blocks?

Also was it possible to get a 4 speed manual on the wagon? Or were 3 speed manuals/autos and powerglides the only options?

What years could you get a BB in a wagon? 73-75, or 68-72? I doubt if any early 65-67 Chevelle wagons got a 396 or 427.

Big blocks were a regular RPO in Chevelle wagons 1970 - 1975. 4-speed manual transmissions were offered on V8 Chevelle wagons 1964 - 1972.

A seller out there is claiming that there was a '73 Chevelle SS wagon with a 454 and a factory M21, the 4-speed being a COPO. I guess it might have happend, who really knows?

Some people think. Manual transmission in a wagon? Yea right. I dont think they realize that it may not necessarly be a floor shift. I have seen a few wagons with the 3 on a tree.:)

Actually I was curious about the '66-'72 wagons having the bbc's/4 speeds

I think the biggest the 64-67 Chevelle wagons could get was the 350 hp 327 and 4 speed. Since the SS was the only ones to see the 396 as part of the SS package. I have seen some 68-72 that looked very factory with 396/325 or 350 HP engines. In 2005 at Chevelle-abration there was a beautiful black 68-69 4 door wagon that won an award. It was also for sale. It was out standing in how nice a car it was. I don't remeber if it was a 9 passenger one or just 6. I wanted to buy it but it was in the 20K range and I'm sure it was worth it.

E-bay or someone on TC here had proof of the 454s in the 73-75 SS wagon. Don't know if a 4 speed was an option or not.

The '64 Chevy Wagon brochure shows a 409 BB available. The '64 Chevelle brochure shows the 327 SB as the largest. I'd say, if you can make a big block fit, go for it! ~ Roy

They used 409's until '65 when the 396 took over. :)

Has anyone seen a 409 in a 64-65 wagon or other Chevelle at all. I don't think it made it there. GTO and Pontiac took to big leap in what 65 to the 389. Impalas yes I have seen a 65 with a factory 409. Just before the 396 was in full swing.

You can stuff a 632 in there I bet doesn't mean it belongs there unless that is the way you want it.

Personally my dream is a dual turbo EFI 540 stuffed in there with a TH400 and Gear Vendors to back it up. Run 10s and drive the heck out of it. I doubt I'd be able to stuff it in a 64-67 Chevelle.

So my back up and more realistic plan is to drop on in a 70-72 Monte Carlo. Ever seen the length of the fan shroud in those beasts? Maybe just maybe some day.
