I have a 1964 Chevelle AM radio. How do I test it out of the car?
Do I need a 8 ohm or 10 ohm speaker? Do I need 2 speakers?
Do I just power it up and ground it?
Do I use an inline fuse for the power lead, same as is in the fuse panel? I think it's 10A ???

if you are testing out of the car, you need to have a fuse, but it isnt that important to make sure you have the correct resistance, or that you ave two speakers. You can use a standard speaker alone to check all you connections. ground the frame and put the 12volt fused source.

new problem
This radio has 3 connections on the back plug.
One is ground.
One is power
One is for the speaker. (and it does have a little sticker just above this plug that says to use a 10 ohm speaker only.)
How do I hook up a speaker to this? The speaker I have uses two wires, not one.

Just found this info in the radio tech section.
"This section will cover stock placement of radio and tape player speakers. This section is currently under construction. The one point I want to make clear is NEVER use speakers rated at less than 8 ohms impedance with your factory radio. If you use the typical, modern 3-4 ohm speakers, you will damage your radio's output circuitry. The factory speakers were rated at 10 ohms impedance."

1 lead..the black 1 goes to ground
Every speaker I have ever seen has 2 wires coming from it.
You're saying one of the speaker wires goes to the ground terminal on the back of the radio ???????????? That doesn't make sense.
I think this radio that I have is NOS.
All of the chrome is perfect. No pitting or even any scratches.
The clear face is perfect. Looks new. The push buttons show no wear.
I want to test it before I sell it, but I sure don't want to screw it up by hooking the connections up wrong.
Help..........

That is all that a radio works on is a positive and a negative. And since it is an AM radio, you need one connection to the positive on the speaker and ground the other to the same connection on the radio
