... Which company makes good floor pans for a 72 Chevelle? There is a Goodmark Distributor in the area, so if I went with them, I do not need to pay the shipping charges.

I plan to replace the entire floor in the car and I have been searching for companies that carry everything (back seat, floor pan, firewall, braces, etc).

Any advice? It does not need to be stamped properly, etc., as this will be more of a street/strip toy car and not going back to original.

Thanks!
Kevin

I'm doing the same things in my '70. I'm not sure yet of the total extent of what has to be replaced in mine, but I did learn that some portions of the floor are not re-produced by anyone (including Goodmark). You may have the same problems with a '72, since you have the A body, too, but I'm not sure. I had to get these parts from a muscle car junk yard (Sundell's in Slippery Rock, PA)

There's 2 sheet metal spots:

1) The very back panel that sits vertically at the back of the trunk and holds the latching mechanism for the deck lid. It creates the back of the trunk and is spatter painted. On a '70, it sits directly behind the rear bumper. I've heard it called a tail light panel, a rear body panel or a trunk brace (what Norm at Sundell's called it). and,

2) The section of sheet metal that runs from the front of the re-poped trunk floor pans, up over the rear end housing and down behind the back seats to the re-poped rear seat floor pans. Creates the "shelf" inside the trunk compartment. The package tray brace is attached to it, too.

In addition to these sections of sheet metal, there's a "rear seat brace" that sits under the re-popped rear floor pans that isn't made by anyone yet that I know of, either. This might be unique to a '70, though. I'm not sure.

You might do some checking to see if you'll have the same problems with sourcing parts for your '72. I'm glad I found out before we started ripping into the car. I hate to find out mid project you're missing something crtical and have to stop! graemlins/angry.gif

Anyway -- Good Luck!

I bought my pans and braces from the Paddock as goodmark didnt include the tranny tunnel as were the paddock pans did. The goodmarks come short only come half way up the tunnel, something to think about if you need the tunnel like I did.

The REAR brace is the same for all 68-72 A-Bodies. Its not being repro like mentioned earlier.

I also bought my trunk from paddock as well as I what to recall that goodmark pans werent the FULL size. I also think they only offer the 3piece trunk and not the 2piece, as I prefer the 2piece over the 3piece...Eric

There is a place in Canada that is reproducing
the whole floor pan in one piece. I can not
think of the companies name though.
