I installed my repro power brake booster yesterday, and it didn't have any leaks......lucky I guess.....
My question is this...
My old booster had a rubber boot that went around the end of the master cylinder, that goes inside the booster..I guess for vacuum sealing purposes, but it didn't go in as far in the new one as it did in the original that it came out of....
I used it anyway, thinking it would seal the end better....
Should I have used it or left it out.....????
Thanks...

That boot should fit onto the end of the mc. There should be a groove machined into the end of the mc for the boot. It is there to keep fluid of the booster should the mc leak & to keep crud out of the back of the mc.

Yeah, I agree but the area where the master cylinder goes in on the repro is not as deep as the original booster, therefore the boot doesn't go in all the way.
I'm kinda forcing it in......and i dont want to stress anything so that it breaks....

It sounds like the booster is typical of repro stuff- sort of fits but not quite right. Does the mc fit in there without the boot?

I totally agree with the repro statement.....
I didn't try it w/o the bubber boot....I just figured to leave it in there..
I just wish the installation sheet would say something about using it or not....
I'm sure other folks have had the same deal....

I just installed one of these boosters in my 70 Skylark. I called the booster manufacturer and asked. The booster has a rubber pad already installed in the booster around the pushrod which kinda looks similiar to the stock one that was removeable. Do not install the stock one with the repro booster. Not sure what would happen if you do, but don't. Just install the master cylinder in the booster and tighten down. Another word of advise is to use a master cylinder made in the usa, and preferably a new, not remanufactured one. The reman ones tend to leak down the booster ruining the plating on the booster and any paint on the frame below..
Good luck and let me know how it goes.
Oh, and I've found the quality of the repro boosters to be fantastic!!!

Your right........I finally wised-up and did the same....called the mfg, and they said the same thing....
I just wish that was stated in the installation instructions......
It does look nice though.......
