Hello everyone, I sprayed my car with K38 yesterday & got the job done, but it wasn't perfect. The gun seemed to have problems getting the material out. I couldnt get a large fan size, or allot of primer out. Here's one thing I noticed... when the gun pot was almost empty, it would spray awesome, but only for about one fender, then when I refilled, it was back to the crappy output.
Gun: Platunum LV 3015(1.5 tip)
compressor is small but passed the 2 min test by sharpe & pressure didnt drop below 45psi while shooting.
The only thing I can think of is I didn't mix the primer good enough?
Gonna shoot again it about 2 weeks, hopefully can get some suggestions to try. Thanks!

The problem isnt with the primer its with the gun and or air source.
Is your gun a HVLP gun? If so they need tons of air flow or volume to work right. You can have all the pressure in the world but without that volume you have jack.
Also where you measuring this 45psi from? The pressure gauge needs to be attached to the gun handle. Sharpe makes a good cheap gauge for about 25 bucks, but I prefer the sata gauges.
If you are reading pressure from the gauge on the compressor you are NOT reading the actual pressure at the gun.
Depending on hose size and length you can be losing up to 20psi, so that 45 psi at the compressor is now say like 30 psi at the gun!
This is the gauge am talking about. The top of it screws into the gun handle then connects to air hose.

Is your gun a siphon feed gun, cup on the bottom the gun? If so the vent hole in the top of the cup is probably plugged. When the vent hole is plugged or decreased in size the gun isnt getting enough air. As your primer level goes down that primer is getting replaced by air. As the level continues to go down you finally have the correct amount of air built inside the cup, thus making is spray nice when you reach almost empty.

Thanks for the suggestions Sevt, My regulator is a matching Sharpe, mounted on the gun. I actuallty took my eyes off my work & watched it when I was spraying the car & it maintained 45psi... & when the gun was spraying poorly the compressor wasnt even running. I also have a pretty short 3/8 hose with all the high flow sharpe fittings.
Any other ideas?
P.S. the shape of my test patterns were good, but the amount of primer & fan size were small. I could not make the fan bigger than 5-6 inches, holding the gun 6 in. from the wall...

try mixing the primer really good happens to me at work when im being rushed it too thick to spray by the time it gets half empty its mix pretty well by then. did you ever take your gun apart it could have some dried up primer in it breaking off clogging up the fluid tip every now and then or until you shoot it thru.
