Hey is there any way to take a pic of your car then change the color of it on the computer? So that it looks good i mean. I'd like to try a few colors on it before i decide to paint. I've got photodeluxe and a trial version of photoshop LE, but havent figured out an easy way to do this yet.

I don't have the software but I have seen it, so it does exist. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

most photo edit programs will let you choose a color to replace and then the color you want to replace it with. So in a couple of mouse clicks you should be able to do it.

Photoshop gives users a couple of ways to do this. Probably the simplest method is to paint a mask around the whatever you want to change colors (presumably your car) then use the "Replace Color" command. By expanding the range of colors with the little eyedropper that has the plus sign on it, you can do pretty neat things by adjusting hue, saturation, and lightness.

It takes time and practice to get this technique to work correctly. It can be tedious when dealing with photos that have less than perfect focus or tons of shadows and glares. There are other techniques such as Adjustment Layers and so forth, but I believe you'll find the color replacement method the most accurate.

Thanx turbodog. Your method is what i was trying but the photo i was using had lots of sun shining off the car and that was giving me fits. Was hoping for an easier way to make the car better looking. managed to paint it darker once but hard to tell what it would look like for real.
