Just installed some hooker's on my 68 and they are very close to the rear brake line. How much of a distance is enough in this case so I dont cook my brake fluid? Thanks!

I have the same question. Has anyone ever had a problem with the brakes. I have one brake line (front Passenger) that is about 2 inches away from the header on the frame.

I myself have been looking for awhile, I can find a note stating 1.5 inch away from the brake lines at the rear of the auto and tail pipe, although the heat that far back should be reduced.. Just a saftey concern although hours of looking I have came up empty handed.

I'll think you will find most of these cars running headers have the same problem, I had about 1/8-1/4 and had no problems, on my 69.

Hopefully I wont have problems either, If I do, Im looking at hours of rebending custom lines as stock for the disc brake conversion (71-77Camaro) have the lines going right next to where my headers are. I have moved most and closes are about an inch or so.

Ceramic headers REALLY keep the heat down also:thumbsup:

You havnt lived !! untill at the drags -you go through the lites, bump your 4 speed out of gear, Tap the brake pedal? hit it again is goes to the floor? Some body parts start to pucker!!! 2-3 seconds you have brakes again. Did this once. Keep the exhaust away from metal lines. Heat on lines=VAPOR
Vapor in system= NO Brakes!!! Wear your brown pants.
