Got a 1965.

Rear bumper is shot. Rust and reworking would cost more than a replacement.

Front is in decent shape.

All those other pieces, like the grill and the trim around the rea taillights and trim around the headlights... what are they made of? Is it stamped metal or?

I guess what I am really asking is, mine are in decent shape mostly, but I'd really like them to shine. Do people rechrome these or replace or buff or ?

When you rechrome, you're always sure of fit. With repops???? You never know. Guess it depends how fussy you are.

Mine's an EC so don't know about back end, but front trim is anodized aluminum stampings/pressings and ss around the windshield. Hood spear and letters are I beleieve pot-meatl die-castings. As i understand it some/most the available reproductions are not very good fitwise or looks wise. I bought a repro grille some 15-16 yr ago and it was terrible, sent it back. Snagged a new GM piece when they werer still available at affordable prices. I would not discard any piece or screw washer etc. With patience these can be worked back intp shape by skillful patient people. Polished would be nice and shiny but not look original. Clear anodizing is available at specialist places I believe, Check Hemmings.

My $0.02

Hmm. Guess I'll hold on to the originals then and see what use I can get out of them.

Thanks Guys

There are places that reanodize the alluminum and they will also straighten. I priced some stuff on my 64. I would be interested if anyone out there has anybody they could refer us to for reanodizing. jk
