This isn't about my chevelle, but certainly could apply to any vehicle...

My black corvette shows blemishes really bad, while it looks like glass in the shade, if you get it under direct bright light, the paint looks like crap (at least to me, most people wouldn't notice)...it's full of tiny 'spider web' scratches and swirls and blemishes.

I've heard that 3M swirl mark remover is good for this, but I'm afraid I may do more harm than good. I want my paint to look like glass, even under direct light. Any suggestions on what to use, how to do it?

thanks!
Brian

BTW, I have used Zaino at length on the car, including their claybar and Z5 'swirl mark remover' this works great for extremely fine marks, but it is not an abrasive product, it 'fills' the lines (I hesitate to call them actual scratches).

What I'm seeing now is goign to take more than a good wax/polish to cover up, they need to actually be removed from the clearcoat.

3M swirl remover works great. I used it on my Black Grand Am GT and it looks great.

Just watched a buddy finish off his latest paint with a glaze called Aurora 3000. He got it at a NAPA store. This was after buffing with 3M Essence and before the Carnuba paste. Its a dark color and looks like a mirror, even inside under the lights.

I would have it buffed with 3M perfectit III compound diluted just a bit with water from a spray bottle and then finish with 3M glaze for dark paints.
If done correctly the first compound will do the trick and not leave swirls.
I owned a 87 Grand National that was black that needed both steps done to get the look I wanted.

P.S. use a 3M foam pad only!!

I used the 3M swirl remover on my Black Cherry 70SS & it did a nice job of removing heavy swirl marks. Then I followed up with the Zaino products....looks good!
