I know from searching in the threads there are a couple of you out there. Are you still happy with your cars? Any specific options you would or would not have added? Have you driven in the snow and if so did it get you home safely?

I'm looking at used Magnums this weekend...most have 15K to 22K miles. Anything to look out for? With Dodge's "Employee Pricing" I'm also going to consider new...but with the decent selection of used ones I will probably stick with used if the price is right.

I've already spoken on the phone with one used car salesman...who proceeded to tell me that the car I was interested in came with every available option...then when questioned about some specifics...turned out the car was pretty bare. Not looking forward to dealing with these guys at all. Oh well...a necessary evil. Only one of the many cars listed in my area were by an individual. Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated.

We've had our '05 Magnum R/T for just over 2 years. It has 16k miles. We have had some small minor things fixed under warranty but as a whole I am VERY happy with the car.

Check the front tires. I have heard of some that eat tires. If it is used it should have Continental tires (ours does). The new ones have Michelins. On the rear hatch, check where it rests on the rubber grommets. Ours has worn through the paint. They are going to touch it up and put the 3M invisi-bra stuff on it.

I'd ask and see if they can pull up warranty claims and any service work done.

I'd buy another Magnum in a heartbeat. As for the Rams, read the post I'm putting together.

Bought a new 300C back in Jan...absolutely love the car. Zero issues with over 4K miles on it so far. Put over 300 miles on it yesterday in fact, using only 3/4 of a tank.

thanks guys
notstock - have you driven in any of that NE snow with the car? how did it do? thanks for the specific things to look for.
Bill - I'm doubting GA has given you much op to drive in the snow..but if you did how did it do. I like the 300s but have two little ones and the wagon just seems right.

BTW - I'm not exactly sure what "invisi-bra" is but sure do wish they were worn more often...;)

Snow...what's that?? ;) Maybe I'll find out some day.
I understand about your interest in the Magnum. I was just responding with feedback on the 300C because I believe they share drivetrains. Or at least powerplants.
Good luck in your search...

I appreciate the info on the 300...my understanding is they are mechanically the same but the Chrysler is more "luxurious"...better insulated, more refined interior etc. A neighbor has one with tasteful bigger wheels and some big honkin brakes and it looks incredible. I also have a neighbor with a Magnum with the V6 and he claims anyone considering the V8 is an idiot...whatever. He's retired and water his lawn with a hose wearing shorts and black socks and dress shoes too.

Had my 05 Magnum RT 2years July. Still love it. No problems other than the factory recall on the radiator mounts. I'd get another, if it were not for the Charger and the Challenger coming out. I'd probably choose one of them.

I have an '05 hemi Magnum & love it. I just had it in for very minor surging under normal acceleration & an updated program seems to have cured that & is supposed to increase mileage also. Other than that, no problems. I live where there is quite a bit of snow & for that reason have two 4X4's, a Blazer & a Z71 pickup. The Dodge doesn't have a posi even though the salesmen all claim they do. What it does have is the computer aided nonsense which isn't of much help in snow. I don't know if they are offered with a real limited slip diff. You might consider one with all wheel drive which should help, although they are more expensive. I don't know what the aftermarket might offer for those.

ns71,
is there a problem with blind spots on the car? I just read a favorable review of the car last week but the review said there were 2 blind spots: the right side and left side of the car. :)
I'm just wondering if that is accurate.

No worse than anything I've ever driven except a topless car. I don't have any issues with mine.

As for blind spots, yes it does have some but it is a non-issue. Between the side mirrors, rearview and turning actually turning your head you'll be fine. Let's put it this way. My wife hasn't had any close calls in the 2 years. (knock on wood).

We've had the few recalls and some other issues. Middle rear seatbelt wouldn't retract, window motor on LR door, threads on the leather wrap on steering wheel got a little loose. Keep in mind I am VERY picky about my cars so alot of the things I have looked at would go unnoticed by most. The service writers look at me like I'm nuts.

The car gets around in the snow ok, It's not a 4x4 by any means. I would consider the AWD but it would be a tough decision. We haven't had any problems with getting stuck but the city is really good about plowing the streets. I don't know how it would do with 6 or more inches of unplowed snow.

Our gas milage is 14ish city in stop and go. We took it to Chicago, South Dakota and Des Moines and averaged 24 highway. Keep in mind the car weighs 4200 lbs. I did put a cold air intake on it but other than that it is stock.

Here's a link to a LX forum site. Tons of great info and there are Magnums for sale from members.

Oh, I wanted to add this. Our friends have a Charger. It is a neat car but look close at the trunk space. It is a large trunk but getting stuff in and out is alot easier on the Magnum. Hmm, Charger nose on a Magnum?? I've seen the 300 nose conversion wonder if a Charger clip would go on.

All LX cars share the same underpinnings, electronics and drivetrain. It is just rebodied from car to car.

The LX's are alot of Mercedes 3 class parts. Electronics, transmission, suspension and the stability stuff is all Mercedes carryover. That is another reason I decided to buy it. These parts are all proven reliable. I hope I am right.

well...we did it. bought a 05 Magnum R/T. Midnight blue, fully loaded including blue tooth cell phone deal and navigation. 16,000 miles. Previous owner traded for the SRT8. wow what a nice vehicle. we are happy so far...

any thoughts on the extended warranty? for a Chrysler full boat warranty that would take it to 6 years/100K miles they want $1940. with all the gadgets on this car it almost seems worth it.

I'm still pondering an extended warranty for ours. Check with your lender, some offer their own extended warranty packages and they are usually cheaper than the dealer.

How about some pics of the new ride? Have you checked out the LX forums yet?

Great purchase, good luck with it.

went to the LX forums this AM....tons of info to be had. of course it doesn't compare to this forum!

we still have 2 years and 20K miles before we need to consider the ex warranty.

We had a great experience at the dealer. Lowest pressure sale ever. Extremely accomadating. We began to wonder what was up...almost like they were tricking us somehow. Just great guys. Anyone near KC need a Dodge procuct...I can highly recommend Crawfords in Raytown.
