Buyer be aware. I have heard folks have had serious issues with plastic inner fenders, especially in the fit department. I have only heard that the metal ones fit better.

I have had no experience with this. But I do follow this particular thread subject a lot. I once asked why some have plastic and other have metal. I was amazed to find out come cars have plastic and metal! There seems to be no rhyme or reason for it, whether it be a southern, northern or Canadian car.

With a good paint treatment, you should not worry about them rusting for a long time.

Get the Goodmark metal ones. They fit and look good. Of course you have to paint them though. They are pretty thin and I don't think they're much heavier if at all than the plastic ones I removed. I wouldn't be suprised if they're lighter. I shoulda weighed them both.

Seems like I am one of those guys thatr bought plastic inner fenders. I had no problem with the fit whatsoever.
I ordered mine from Original Parts Group.
Also like to add that I purchased a brand new '72 SS El Camino in 1972 here in southen Calif. and it had the plastic inners..I don't think it was a Calif. deal 'cause the SS El Camino that I have now was bought from the same dealer in 1972 and it had metal inners....go  figure...

I was researching this myself for awhile, but I ended up finding a good set of used steel ones cheap ($75 graemlins/thumbsup.gif ). I have no firsthand knowledge either way on the fit and quality, so i won't guess. However, FYI on Ebay awhile back I saw TAMRAZ PARTS (Plainfield, IL) was selling the steel repops for something like $89 each, so you might want to search Ebay or call Tamraz. I do not know what brand(i.e. Goodmark, etc.). Hope this helps a little.

My car came with plastic inner fenders. Almost every hole in them was cracked. I now have 2 new metal ones sitting in the garage waiting to be installed. I didnt really notice that much of a weight difference between the two. Ill never buy plastic again. My .02 cents

Have you ever noticed that when you're young and stupid, you'll buy the first thing you see?
Case in point, I bought a pair of fiberglass inner fenders to replace the ones missing on my new project. They aren't drilled and I doubt that they're even properly trimmed. I'm probably going to end up not even using them.
