I have an engine code T0607EKH 6 A 177776. Can someone help me with the EKH code? I know it is a 66 engine, but what type?

I'll wait for one of the experts to step in but are you sure it's not EKR versus EKH??

Look here... http://www.chevellestuff.com/generic/all_engine_codes.htm#1966

It's a 396 325HP (L35), powerglide, with a Holley carburetor. The list at Chevellestuff shows EK and EKR but the carburetor usage on most of the 325HP engines was stamped in 66 so the EK would actually be EKH with the Holley. Some Rochester versions were built also; EKR. The EKH version would have been sold only outside of California since it didn't use a smog pump. The ED engines were also stamped EDH even though there wasn't a R version that year.

The Atlanta sequence number on the block and the engine assembly date are both in June of 66. I'll bet the build date on the trim tag of the car is 06B. Numbers look good. Do you have the car, or just the engine?

I have both. Someone was looking at buying it, but did not believe it was a numbers car. I just thought I would check myself. We cannot find the title, but it is clear. The engine is not running, but the body has very little rust. What do you think this will go for?

http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m73/jackschevelle/0a_0.jpgI had it posted on ebay for $11,000. My mother-in-law is the one selling it. The title is clean, but we cannot find it. She will have to sell with a bill of sale. It is a numbers car. There is some rust on the driver back quarter a the rim. There are a few more rust spots, but that is exactly what they are, spots. The floor pan on the drivers side does have a rust through spot that I did not know was there at the time of selling on ebay. The engine does not run and has set idle for over 23 years. There are some parts missing, but the engine is intact. The following info is the trim tag:
General Motors Corp
048
ST 66-13817 ATL10881 BODY
TR 763-B E-E Paint
E 2MG
Body by Fisher

Vin #138176A147855

Engine tag# T0607EKH 6 A 177776

I have tried to add pictures to this, but I am not sure if it will come through.

Thanks,

Bad news, the engine is not original to the car. The engine was built 2 months after the car and the VINs don't match. Still good as a period correct engine, but the numbers people won't pay the big bucks. The car originally had a Powerglide transmission, too. That is not as valuable as a 4-spd. The car did have bucket seats and console, according to the trim tag. That's good. The car was originally Danube Blue with a black bucket interior. Good luck with your sale.

How could it have gotten an engine 2 months younger than the car? My late father-in-law prided in the fact that it was a numbers car. He purchased it from a friend in 1968. It is a automatic and it still has the black bucket interior with the console. How much would you say this would go for AZCamino?

The trim tag indicates the car has full tinted glass. Does it also have air conditioning? Any other interesting options? As a non-numbers matching car it might still be worth the asking $11K. Value is hard to determine with out personal inspection to check the rest of the body for rust and determine if the rest of the drivetrain (transmission and rear end) might be original. The engine could have been swapped between 66 and 68. If an engine dated this close to the original in a similar car was found to replace a stolen or damaged engine, I could understand that someone could think it was correct (numbers matching) for the car. It should have all the correct casting numbers. It is just that the assembly date and partial VIN on the block indicate it was originally installed in another Atlanta 66 SS396 built 2 months later. Sorry. It is still a desireable project car. It would help the value of the car if you could find the title or get a duplicate before selling the car. The original title would also help prove your claims of the father-in-law having owned the car for so long. That can add to the value. People like to buy cars with documented ownership.

Thanks. It does have the original trans and rear end. It is a 12 bolt rear end. There are about 5 small rust places that can be patched. This much I do know. The other rust is in the drivers floor in the corner at the gas petal. We did not know it was there until someone came to look at it to buy and decided not to do so. The reason was no title. He wanted to make it a show car. Thanks for your help and if anyone else is interested in looking at it to buy, please call me at 706-853-0174 or email me at gcbbjacks@comcast.net and I will make arrangement for you to look at it.

If the car was originally titled to your motherinlaw, can't she send off to the DMV for lost title and get another?
The hole at the floor board is common due to getting in the car with wet feet and pants. water runs down your leg, down to the heel, onto the floor.
The title would help tremendously in selling for a better price.
Very nice project car but would cost big $$$ to restore. Trunk lid looks like it has rust bubbling up...they get eat up from the inside out. Looks like the common place rust at rear bottom corner of rear window. Quarters are probably rusted around the wheel wells. Also common around the bottom back corners of the fenders. How is the trunk and gutter? I have a friend who might be interested but he would replace anything with rust for complete new panels. Big $$. Chrome and trim would need replated or replaced it appears. How is the interior?
$11,000 would be a little high without a title and not the original motor.
I am sure someone on this site would be very interested if a title could be had and a better price.
Just the way I see it. Sorry you are having to sell instead of keeping yourself. Life, I reckon.
I live about 1 1/2 hours from you. Keep us/me informed.
